How can we help?

Access private therapy with fully qualified and registered CBT & EMDR therapists, counsellors and psychologists.

Online therapy does not involve any travel time or waiting rooms, and our therapists can offer flexible appointments which work around your lifestyle, making it effective, extremely convenient and wholly discreet.

Studies have found online therapy to be as effective as the more traditional face-to-face therapy, using the same evidence-based treatment interventions and principles as traditional talking therapies.

Anxiety is one of the most common reasons people seek online therapy. Symptoms include excessive worry, difficulty sleeping and not being able to concentrate.

We offer diverse counselling, talking therapy, and mental health therapy options tailored to help you overcome your anxiety.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a recommended treatment that helps you to understand the underlying causes of your anxiety by working to examine the thoughts, feelings and behaviours that are contributing to it.

With your therapist you will develop a personalised plan to cope with anxiety and learn techniques and tools that will help you now and help prevent the return of it in the future.

Depression (major depressive disorder) is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. It can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems and can decrease a person’s ability to function at work and at home.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) helps you to understand the underlying causes of your depression by working to examine the contributing thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

With your therapist you will develop a personalised plan to cope with low moods and learn techniques and tools that will help you now and help prevent the return of low moods in the future.

Counselling is a type of talking therapy that supports a person to talk about their problems and feelings in depth in a confidential and safe environment.

The aim of counselling is to help you express your feelings, make sense of them and develop new ways of looking at yourself and the world around you.

A counsellor is trained to listen with empathy and compassion. They can help you deal with any negative thoughts and feelings you have.

They will help you to create a plan of action to either help you address your problems, or help you to find ways of coping.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a recommended treatment for conditions where anxiety and depression are the main problem. CBT will often focus on lifting the spiralling cycles of depression and low mood.

With CBT, you can begin to understand the underlying causes of your problems, and manage challenges by altering your thought patterns, reactions, and behaviours.

CBT is currently recognised as having the strongest evidence-base (efficacy) of all the talking therapies, for a wide range of problems and is recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) treatment guidelines.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy can help you process and move past previous life events, by facilitating the accessing and processing of traumatic memories and other adverse life experiences.

EMDR is a structured and goal-oriented therapy that is designed to help people process and resolve traumatic memories, and to reduce the negative effects of trauma on their current functioning. EMDR aims to ‘process’ negative experiences or events which can subsequently improve emotional well-being and help to significantly reduce, but more often eliminate distressing symptoms and bodily sensations associated with the trauma.

EMDR can be particularly effective in helping with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Tauma, Anxiety, Depression, and Chronic Pain.

What makes My Therapist Online different to other therapy providers?

Personalised matching:

Matched by a professional, not an algorithm. Anxiety comes in many different forms and no two people experience anxiety in the same way.

While many of the larger therapy providers use algorithms to match therapists to clients, we believe a more bespoke approach is needed. Our triage team personally reads every application to ensure you are matched with the right therapist first time.

Selective and qualified therapists:

Our therapists meet the highest standards, and are fully qualified, with each having at least 3 years of post-qualification clinical experience and a proven track record in treating anxiety and other mental health conditions.

Free initial consultation:

We offer one free, no obligations, brief consultation with your therapist.

The aim of this brief (10-15 minutes) meeting in to:

  • meet your preferred therapist face-to-face ahead of treatment starting.
  • check you can engage comfortably with your therapist before committing to any paid treatment.
  • see if therapy via Zoom, WhatsApp or FaceTime or other preferred video platform, is for you.
  • establish a brief initial understanding of the problems you want to address in therapy.

UK-based expertise:

My Therapist Online is a UK-based company, with many of our therapists having extensive experience in the NHS.

No monthly subscription:

Pay only for the therapy sessions you book and attend, ensuring you only pay for what you need.

Frequently asked questions

Unlike some other therapy platforms, My Therapist Online is run by qualified therapists. Every request for help is read, reviewed and matched by a qualified and experienced professional.

We have no waiting lists or waiting rooms, and can typically ensure you meet with your therapists within a week of registering your interest.

Each of the therapists on our team have been selected after a rigorous application process. This allows us to be confident in the quality of the therapy that our clients receive and ensure that it meets the highest standards.

Our therapists are qualified CBT practitioners, counsellors and psychologists, with extensive NHS and private practice experience, handling a range of difficulties from mild to complex. Many of our therapists are specially trained in proven therapeutic approaches to address a variety of difficulties & maintain their high standards through regular clinical supervision.

My Therapist Online is right for you if you want to improve the quality of your life. If something is interfering with your daily functioning, quality of living or from achieving your personal goals, we may be able to help you.

We have therapists who are specialists in the evidence-based treatment of specific issues, such as;

Stress (including work stress), anxiety, depression, relationship problems, pre and postnatal anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment disorder,

post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anger, interpersonal problems, LGBT matters, self-esteem and self-confidence issues, social anxiety, performance anxiety, health anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), emetophobia, phobias, panic and panic attacks, and perfectionism

My Therapist Online is NOT the right solution for you if any of the following is true:

You have thoughts of hurting yourself or others, you’re in an urgent crisis or an emergency situation, you’ve been diagnosed with a severe mental illness, or you’ve been advised to be supported by a community mental health team (severe and enduring problems require a multidisciplinary team approach), you’re required to undergo therapy either by a court order or by any other authority, you don’t have a device that can connect to the internet or you don’t have a reliable Internet connection.

Due to the remote nature of therapy delivery, My Therapist Online is NOT able to help those who are in crisis.

Please note – for those seeking treatment for bipolar disorder, this is best managed by video therapy if the person is also engaged with a psychiatrist and compliant with medication.

There’s a wealth of evidence – which continues to grow – that tells us online therapy works just as effectively as face to face therapy.

At My Therapist Online we ensure that you don’t miss out on any of the elements of the real human connection necessary for the therapeutic process to bring about good outcomes by offering face to face video conferencing in real time.

Session fees vary, with prices reflecting your therapist’s clinical skills and experience.

Appointments typically cost between £60 – £120 per session

  • An accredited Counsellor typically charges between £60-80
  • An accredited CBT therapist typically charges between £70-100
  • A HCPC Registered Psychologist typically charges between £90-120

Self-help resources such as workbooks can provide you with some education and tools to overcome anxiety. If you have tried self-help techniques and they are not improving your anxiety, you may benefit from speaking to a specialist who is trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

A CBT therapist will help you examine your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and physical sensations, showing you how these are interconnected. You will learn to recognise the symptoms of your anxiety, identify the triggers that cause it, and develop tools and techniques to manage and overcome your worries. This includes reframing negative thoughts, practising helpful techniques, and using clinically proven coping strategies to deal with anxiety in the moment.

Our CBT therapists will equip you with skills to prevent anxiety from returning, supporting your long-term mental well-being. CBT is a collaborative therapy – it’s not something that is done to you, but a way of working together with a CBT therapist on mutually agreed goals.
